The issue of diversity at work plays an important role in organizations. This month we would like to raise this issue as March is a Gender Equality Month and show that gender diversity at NEM actually leads to plenty of benefits for companies.

We do care about understanding and respecting all genders. People are essential to NEM's success and our culture promotes diversity at work.

We focus on experience and achievements of our employees, providing equal pay opportunities to all genders. Each department in NEM has women on board. Our internal statistics show that in top management we have a 50/50 proportion of women and men and the number of white collars is almost equal (47,5% women and 52% men).

At NEM we believe that gender diversity plays an important role in our organization. Ensuring equal representation of women and men in the workplace can have positive effects across NEM. These are at least 5 main points we strongly believe in:

1. Different perspectives
Having both women and men in our teams means we benefit from different points of view and approaches that come from different life experiences.

2. Enhanced collaboration
Having women on our teams helps to improve team processes and boost group collaboration.
Researchers have observed that women have stronger skills of reading non-verbal cues.

3. Boosting creativity
Variety of voices during meetings generate variety of ideas. Teams/groups with more women were better at taking turns in conversation, which helps to benefit from groups' combined knowledge and skills.

4. Better understanding of your customers
Customers come from all walks of life. That means we make sure our teams have a diversity of genders, as well as backgrounds and ethnicities. Women are hugely influential when it comes to making purchasing decisions and make great salespeople.

5. Greater profitability
Evidence supports the theory that gender diversity has a positive impact on the bottom line. According to McKinsey, the most gender-diverse companies are 21% more likely to experience above-average profitability.
